Omnichannel Agent Desktop
What is Omnichannel Agent Desktop?
Unlike multichannel agent desktops, where channels like phone, email, and chat are supported with different tools and information, an omnichannel agent desktop provides a seamless and consistent experience for both the agent and the customer. It spans every customer communication channel.
In a multichannel setup, an agent might answer calls in one application, emails in another and chats in a third, with customer history scattered across each. An omnichannel agent desktop brings all channels into a single interface with a shared view of the customer, so an agent can see that today’s chat follows yesterday’s email and last week’s call. Work from every channel can be queued and routed by common rules.
For customers, the benefit is not having to repeat themselves when they switch channels. For agents, it means fewer applications to learn and less switching during an interaction. For supervisors, it provides one view of workload and performance across channels. Buyers typically evaluate channel coverage, how context carries across channels and transfers, CRM integration and configurability.
