Interceptable Messaging Pipeline
What is Interceptable Messaging Pipeline?
Interceptable Messaging Pipeline Architecture provides a pipeline for all messages with multiple interception points. It supports the sequential integration of third-party plugins to add business intelligence or perform transformations at various points, e.g. tag, auto-respond, credit card masking, profanity filters, and more.
The idea behind an interceptable pipeline is that every message passes through a defined sequence of steps. At each interception point, a plugin can inspect the message and act on it before it continues. Plugins run one after another, so several functions can be combined without changing the core messaging system.
Typical uses include tagging messages for routing or reporting, sending automatic responses, masking payment card numbers before they are stored or displayed, and filtering profanity. This approach supports compliance and consistency because rules are applied in one place for every message, rather than relying on individual agents or channels to apply them. It also lets an organization add or remove a function by changing a plugin instead of reworking the whole messaging flow.
